It’s time to get rid of the slush fund of tax dollars in KCMO.
Important facts to consider before you go to the polls on April 7th.
Kansas City’s 1% Earnings Tax (E-Tax) generates roughly $350+ million per year and makes up about 44–47% of the city’s General Fund.
That money goes straight into the General Fund, which means City Hall can spend it on almost anything approved in the budget.
Yes, some of it funds essential services like:
• Police
• Fire
• Trash pickup
• Street maintenance
• Snow removal
But the same pool of taxpayer money is also used for things like:
• Consultant studies and planning reports
• Legal costs and settlements when the city loses lawsuits
• Economic development studies and corridor redesign plans
• Outside consultants hired by the city
• Non-profit contracts and grant programs
• Pilot programs, advisory boards, and administrative expansion
When the voters reject the E-Tax, it does NOT disappear overnight. Missouri law requires a 10-year phase-out, reducing the tax slightly each year until it reaches zero.
Year 1 – 1.0%
Year 2 – 0.9%
Year 3 – 0.8%
Year 4 – 0.7%
Year 5 – 0.6%
Year 6 – 0.5%
Year 7 – 0.4%
Year 8 – 0.3%
Year 9 – 0.2%
Year 10 – 0.1%
Year 11 – 0%
That means the city would have an entire decade to adjust spending and restructure its budget as theu should.
Instead of losing $350 million overnight, the reduction would happen gradually.
That gives city leadership time to:
• Set real spending priorities
• Reduce unnecessary studies and consultants
• Evaluate programs that are not producing results
• Make real budgeting decisions
Kansas City and Missouri also collect millions from casino taxes, cigarette taxes, and marijuana taxes every year.
Those taxes were sold to voters as ways to help fund schools, infrastructure, and public programs.
When you add those revenues on top of the taxes we already pay, it’s fair for taxpayers to expect transparency and responsible budgeting.
Taxpayers deserve honest conversations about how their money is being spent.

Resolution in Support of the Safeguard American Voter Eligibilty(SAVE) Act
WHEREAS, the Platte County Republican Central Committee is committed to upholding the integrity of
our elections, ensuring that every vote cast in our republic is by a lawful U.S. citizen, and preserving the
sacred right of American citizens to self-governance; and
WHEREAS, federal law already prohibits non-citizens from voting in elections for federal office, yet
current registration processes under the National Voter Registration Act of 1993 do not consistently
require documentary proof of U.S. citizenship, creating vulnerabilities that could allow ineligible
individuals to register; and
WHEREAS, the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility Act (SAVE Act), H.R. 22 in the 119th Congress (and
related iterations such as the SAVE America Act), sponsored by Representative Chip Roy (R-TX), would
amend federal law to require individuals to provide documentary proof of United States citizenship—such
as a US passport, certified birth certificate with official photo ID, or other acceptable forms—when
registering to vote in federal elections, thereby closing this gap and reinforcing existing prohibitions on
non-citizen voting; and
WHEREAS, passage of the SAVE Act would also strengthen election security by requiring every voter to
show an authorized form of ID to receive a ballot when they actually vote, in order to, restore public
confidence in our electoral system, prevent potential dilution of lawful citizens’ votes, and align with
longstanding Republican principles of election integrity, rule of law, and one citizen, one vote; and
WHEREAS, recent reintroductions and House passages of similar measures underscore the urgent need
for this commonsense reform to protect the sanctity of American elections from any risk of fraud or
foreign interference;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Platte County Republican Central Committee, meeting in
regular session on March 2nd, 2026, that we strongly support the immediate passage of the Safeguard
American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) Act by the United States Congress and its prompt signing into law; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that we call upon Missouri’s congressional delegation—Senators and
Representatives—to actively champion, and vote in favor of this critical legislation to safeguard our
Republic; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be transmitted to Missouri’s U.S. Senators, U.S.
Representative for Missouri’s [relevant district, e.g., 6th District], the Missouri Republican Party, the
Republican National Committee, as a statement of our unwavering support for election integrity measures
like the SAVE Act.
Adopted this 2nd day of March, 2026.
Tammy M Thompson , Chairman Platte County Republican Central Committee

The Platte County Republican Central Committee is now implementing vetting for all county elected offices. All individuals filing or refiling for office for 2024 and beyond will be vetted before filing fees are accepted by our party’s treasurer.
TO MAKE THIS PROCESS AS SMOOTH AND CONFUSION FREE AS POSSIBLE, ONLY PAY YOUR FEE DIRECTLY TO THE COMMITTEE TREASURER AFTER VETTING IS COMPLETED. ONLY CHECKS WILL BE ACCPTED ABSOLUTELY NO CASH. IF THE TREASURER IS AUTHORIZED TO ACCEPT YOUR FEE, YOU WILL BE GIVEN A PAID RECEIPT. YOU WILL SHOW THIS RECEIPT TO THE BOARD OF ELECTIONS TO INDICATE YOU CAN FILE FOR OFFICE USING THE REPUBLICAN PARTY’S NAME.
SHOULD YOU INSTEAD HAND YOUR FEE TO THE BOARD OF ELECTION, YOU STILL MUST PARTICIPATE IN THE VETTING PROCESS. FAILURE TO COME BEFORE THE COMMITTEE FOR VETTING MAY RESULT IN NOT RECEIVING OUR SUPPORT. TYPICALLY, THE COMMITTEE DOESN’T ENDORSE DURING A PRIMARY BUT IF YOU DO NOT PARTICIPATE IN VETTING, WE WILL MAKE IT KNOWN THAT YOU WILL NOT BE SUPPORTED BY THE COMMITTEE AND IN CERTAIN CONDITIONS, STEPS WILL BE TAKEN TO KEEP YOU FROM BEING ON THE BALLOT AS A REPBULICAN.
VETTING IS NOT AN ENDORSEMENT OF A CANDIDATE AS WE DO NOT ENDORSE IN PRIMARY ELECTIONS
How it works:
1. You advise the chair you intend to file or refile for office and would like to be vetted.
2.	A time will be established for the vetting process to occur.
3.	You will sign a pledge to support our platform and pay your fee to the Central Committee treasurer. Failure to sign the pledge will result in disqualification to run as a Republican Candidate
4.	The Treasurer will give you a receipt that you can then show to the Board of Elections
5.	All vetting will be completed in advance of the first day of filing in February.
6.	An additional vetting period will be held after filing starts for individuals not deciding to run until then.
7.	If the candidate wants to keep their candidacy private until filing, we will respect the wishes of the candidate and only the vetting committee will be aware of the intended candidacy.
8.	Vetting will be done by at least 3 members of the sub-committee or 3 members of the executive committee.
9.	Situations that will require discussion before the full committee to approve a candidate are serious violations of the Missouri Ethics Commission, such as fraud and misuse of campaign funds, and any legal issues that result in probation or jail time.
10.	A candidate will also be rejected if they are clearly known as a Democrat, ie committee member, elected or run as a Democrat in the last election cycle.
It is incumbent on all candidates to contact the chair early enough to complete the vetting process before the filing deadline occurs.
